The Moses Mabhida Stadium is a stadium under construction in Durban, South Africa, named after Moses Mabhida, a former General Secretary of the SACP. It is intended to be a world-class multi-use stadium.
It will be one of the host stadiums for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The stadium has a planned capacity of 70,000 during the World Cup and 54,000 afterwards. The stadium is adjacent to the ABSA Stadium, in the Kings Park Sporting Precinct, and the Durban street circuit used for the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.
It includes an adjoining indoor arena, football museum, sports institute, and a transmodal transport station.

Bethlehem, situated in a fertile valley of the Maluti Mountains on the N5 highway, is the largest commercial, industrial & educational centre in the eastern Free State & the northern terminus of the mountain route.

The original settlers found that wheat flourished in the valley & hence the town was named Bethlehem (house of bread). Bethlehem was founded by the Voortrekkers during the 1840's & is the setting for a number of historical sandstone buildings, many of which are now provincial heritage sites.

Dit word bestempel as een van die oorspronklikste sci-fi-rillerflieks in jare - glo die wêreld se eerste ''outobiografiese'' alien-Apartheidsfilm. Ons eie Neill Blomkamp, 'n SA regisseur van kortfilms en advertensies wat al geruime tyd in Vancouver, Kanada, woon, was die skrywer en regisseur. District 9 is in samewerking met die baasbrein agter Lord of the Rings, die Oscar-bekroonde Peter Jackson, vervaardig.
Bid jou aan! In die fliek is honderdduisende ruimtewesens in Johannesburg gestrand ná hul ruimtetuig hier onklaar raak. Natuurlik is die onooglike spulletjie glad nie welkom nie, en word hulle na 'n vlugtelingkamp met doringdraad omhein aan die buitewyke van die Goudstad verban - dié heet District 9.

WILD FLOWERS and CAPE FYNBOS

Each year during August and September, depending on the preceding winter's rainfall, the area is transformed into a floral showcase. The area features a large variety of wild flowers. Ramskop Nature Reserve at the Clanwilliam Dam Resort boasts 250 indigenous species of wild flowers.

FLOWER ROUTES Information regarding flower routes cannot be accessed ahead of time as the profusion of flowers is dependent on good rains. Information offices throughout the area remain in contact, and predictions regarding the season can only be made from July. The best times for flowers is generally August and September. Many of the towns in the area offer flower shows during that period. Enquire at the nearest Information office before setting out on a tour. The Clanwilliam Information Office can assist you with information regarding the best routes to select. Remember that flowers need to be viewed with the sun behind you and preferably between 10h30 and 15h30 when the sun is at its warmest. On the days that are rainy or misty most of the flowers remain shut because of the cold.

AmaZulu World will incorporate the culture and natural history of KwaZulu Natal, with features that will transform the development into a world class destination. It will cost close to R44 billion, but the features and design of AmaZulu World will be like nothing ever seen before in South Africa, or Africa for that matter. One of the biggest attractions to the complex, will be the internationally branded theme park, of which there will be two, and on completion, AmaZulu World will offer approximately twenty hotels, residences, a golf course, nature reserves, a sports village development, a marina, shopping complexes, resorts, community facilities, and spas. It is estimated that it will take about twenty-five years until AmaZulu World is complete, as it will be constructed in phases, but with each phase another of the various attractions to AmaZulu World will be added.

What is the True Meaning of “Zuma Tzunami” ?
Back in December 2007, when Zuma swept through like a wave and won the bitter electoral battle for ANC supremacy at Polekwani, this was considered at that time by political commentators and academics alike as the “Zuma Tzunami”.
In April 2009 at a meeting at UCT, Julius Malema was quoted as saying “Jacob Zuma is unstoppable. Zuma is a biological tsunami.”
In the run up to the South African Presidential elections, Zuma made promises to everybody from foreign investors to millions of poor blacks living in shanty towns in his quest for votes & popularity.
South Africa is now in the grip of its first recession for 20 years and the people in the townships are complaining that after 15 years of ANC rule they still don’t have basic housing, electricity or water.
The “Zuma Tzunami” wave may still come back to drown him. Zapiro’s cartoon of the 23rd July 2009 in The Times illustrates this graphically.

Stellenbosch Western Cape

Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands

The beautiful little town of Stellenbosch, roughly an hour from Cape Town, lies surrounded by the Stellenbosch Mountains in the Jonkershoek River Valley in one of the most picturesque settings in the Cape.

The second oldest town in South Africa has fondly been called ‘Eikestad’ or city of oaks and its streets are lined with some of the most beautiful surviving examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian architecture in the Cape. Dorp Street is a national monument and taking the time to walk around this cosy old part of Stellenbosch, with its secluded lanes, water furrows, cosmopolitan restaurants and coffee bistros, with superb views of mountain, vineyards and orchards, is an idyllic morning venture.

The name ‘Stellenbosch’ is almost synonymous with the wine industry. Not only does it have the oldest wine route in the country, and arguably the most famous, but the town has one of the most modern experimental wineries in the world, and the only viticultural and oenological department in the country at its university.

Blaauwklippen Estate, Stellenbosch

South Africa’s oldest music school, the famous Stellenbosch Conservatoire, has its home in this important cultural centre, and there is a collection of galleries and museums housing national and international art collections worth viewing.

For the nature lover there are a number of excellent hikes in the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. The full-day Vineyard Hiking Trail, a fairly new 24 kilometre long trail, starts on the slopes of the Papegaaiberg and winds its way through vineyards, forests, olive groves and coastal renosterveld.

The Stellenbosch Tourist Information Office and the Stellenbosch Wine Route Office are in Market Street - start to your tour here! Many of the historical buildings are close by and it is possible to discover some of Stellenbosch on foot.

Vergelegen Wine Estate, Stellenbosch

The Toy & Miniature Museum is situated behind the Information Bureau and is the only one of its kind in South Africa. Close to Market Street is the town square, known as Die Braak, where there are some interesting buildings. The VOC Kruithuis (Powder House) (1777), the Old Rhenish Mission, the Church of St Mary (1852), the Coachman's Cottage and the old Burgerhuis (1797) are all worth visiting.
