1905 with managers cottage next door
According to bank archives the first 'bank' was opened in a tent with a trommel at the local market square. Before the municipality, or even the Kokstad Advertiser was established the branch was making it's mark in East Griqualand! Bank archives reported on births, deaths, stock, weather patterns, businesses that opened and closed, banks that opened and closed down, the establishment of the Museum, Royal Hotel, etc.
All thanks go to Letitia Myburh (Standard Bank Archives and Historical Services) and
Frans Kruger (Manager's husband for compiling and organising events and a newsletter)
